Lots of fun things have been happening around here lately! Theres been a lot of progress on the bathroom renovation and we are nearing the final details. We still have to get our shower door ordered and installed but otherwise its just all the fun finishing details. We are planning to hang some plants, get some art work and I have already grabbed some fun towels and accessories for the kids. I can’t wait to show you how it all comes together!
Birthday night out
Last weekend Jesse and I had a night out to go celebrate my birthday. We stayed at a new local hotel The Daxton and had the best time! Before we went to dinner I debated on wearing this dress. Even though I loved it I kept worrying about being over dressed or feeling like it was too much. I took a poll on my instagram and was so moved by the messages from people essentially saying “wear the dress!” It was so eye opening and so true. You really should just wear what you love and makes you happy. So I did and it was amazing!
The restaurant and hotel were so beautiful I can’t wait to go back!
Spring porch refresh
Back at home another quick project I worked on was a low maintenance front porch change up for spring. After realizing I still had my reindeer doormat out I figured it was time for a refresh. So I grabbed 2 arborvitaes from Home Depot and pots since they will be pretty tolerant of the weather. Its still a little cold here in Michigan so a lot of plants won’t hold up yet. Boxwoods would also be a good option. Swapped out my doormats and it looks like a new spot.
A favorite recipe
Do you have a favorite recipe that you’ve made for years and nothing can replace it? This chicken piccata recipe is it! I’ve been making this for almost 10 years and even when I try different recipes I always go back to this one – Chicken Piccata
When I made it this week I had a little mishap where I broke a glass jar right next to the pan I was cooking in and essentially had to start everything over. But it still turned out amazing! It’s also a crowd pleaser since everyone in my house loves it. We roasted some asparagus and it went perfect with it. Heres how we made the asparagus:
Drizzle olive oil, garlic powder, salt and pepper over asparagus. (Jesse added red pepper flakes and loved it) Roast at 350 degrees until fork tender – about 10 minutes. Thats it!
