Have you ever wanted your own enclosed garden bed?! Over time my interest in gardening has been growing year after year. Then last year I really wanted to step it up a bit. I knew if I was going to expand the amount I could plant then I would definitely need an enclosed garden bed. Our backyard is one of my favorite parts about our home, its one of the big reasons we chose it. I remember so clearly the day we looked at this house and when we walked into the yard an entire family of dear were strolling through the back. We were sold! Now fast forward 5 years and we still love all the animal visitors we have but we knew if we were going to have a bigger garden it would have to be an enclosed bed so all our furry friends wouldn’t eat it…
Using faux florals and stems around your home is a great way to add to your decor. They can add height and texture to a space and are a nice break from taking care of a real plant. But a big component in that is knowing how to make faux florals look real when you style them in your home. If you buy more expensive ones they will usually look pretty good but they can really add up. There are a lot of budget faux florals that can really rival the designer versions – you just have to know what to look for and how to work with them. Here are my tips and tricks! Look at the branch color It may seem obvious but look for ones that have a realistic branch color. There are many that have all sorts of others colors that do not look natural….
One of my go to paint brands! When I saw that they were having 25% off Paints and Stains this week July 15-18 I thought it was the perfect time to share some of my favorite Sherwin Williams paint colors in case you are looking.   Favorite Sherwin Williams Paint Colors There really are so many great colors to choose from! If you want to look around they have some great tools on their website and also have stick on samples you can order so you can test out colors if you are unsure. Here’s a breakdown of some of my favorites. Dark Colors We might as well start with my absolute favorite which is Tricorn Black! We used this color for our accent wall and it is exactly what we were looking for. We used the Cashmere paint in the flat finish and it has the perfect silky finish with…
It’s that time of year where I start gathering some new containers to get a little more organized throughout the house. I’m working on many different spaces so here’s some of my favorite home organization finds. When using containers inside a cabinet or pantry I like to use this bluetooth label maker. It also works great for other items throughout the house like kids school supplies or toy organization. I love that I can print them right from my phone and they are super fast and easy to make.   I recently started using this makeup organizer and it has been a game changer! It’s a small lazy susan style and is perfect for your everyday makeup. I still have another spot for my extra items that I don’t use daily. I also keep my brushes in a pouch and bring them out when needed. The center part in…
I’m really looking forward to getting started on Christmas decor this year! I have started a little and have added a few things to my decor for this season. Since its not all up yet I thought I would share my inspiration for this year which is a Cozy Christmas Cabin. I wanted to really focus on enjoying being snuggled up at home. And on items that would work great for Christmas but also work into the winter after the holidays as well.     Greenery is definitely one of my favorite elements in any holiday decor. That plus the warm wood tones with lots of textures like knits and faux fur make it the perfect cozy cabin atmosphere! I wanted to keep it a more modern take on cabin decor by adding the black accents with clean lines. And lastly only adding in these couple pillows to the…
This time of year can get a pretty hectic with things to do. Then add in coming up with ideas for gifts is a whole other task to tackle. Sometimes you just need an idea that is a timeless holiday gift that will help when checking off your list. So I thought I would share my favorite for the season. *Thank you to Applewood Candle Co for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own   Behind the brand When it comes to gifting, it can be so hard to find just the right item. Especially when you have so many people on your list. We are often left trying to come up with ideas for teachers, coworkers, neighbors, clients and even friends or family. Thats where Applewood Candle Co comes in! I have grown very picky when choosing candles for my home. When I started using candles from…
Holiday greenery is a staple when it comes to seasonal decor. It can stand out all on its own or can be the base to build and add other elements to. It’s what I always start with in my holiday decorating. Holiday Greenery Guide Slowly adding some holiday greenery is a great step if you are not ready to bring out all the holiday items. Its even great for the time leading up to Thanksgiving because it makes the space feel festive without being too holiday specific and looks so nice on its own or with lights. There are many different types of greenery for the holidays so here’s a breakdown and some ways to style it. Garland Garlands are one of my favorite ways to use greenery in the holidays. You can use it on a mantle, over windows, on a staircase, at your front door, as a…
Have you ever wanted to change up a room without doing any major projects? Don’t get me wrong we all know I love a big renovation but sometimes its just not necessary or feasible. I’m going to share some easy ways to change up a room without having to do a ton of work! It’s been over 4 years since we renovated our kitchen. I cannot believe how time flies! While I still love the space we created I was definitely ready for the vibe of the room to change a little. One thing I’ve learned about interior design is its ok for your style and taste to continually change and evolve over time. I was ready to make the space lean more towards transitional design with a cozy feel.   Changes in the kitchen Here are the biggest changes I made to the space. First is we changed…
We are inching closer to starting the renovation of the outside of our home. The main project is going to be having our patios and walkways removed and redone, as well as some landscaping. I decided to get going on finding new furniture and decor for the space because we want to be able to enjoy it once its done. Our current table and chairs we’ve had for over 10 years and its just time for an update. One thing I have noticed over the years is that this can be quite time consuming as well as a little frustrating since so many pieces sell out very fast during the season. Since I was doing all the research I thought I would share all my fun finds. Even if you aren’t planning a big change it may just provide a little inspo if you want to change a few…
Christmas decorating will always be one of my favorite things. There’s just something magical that the lights and greenery bring to a space. I switched up a few things and tried some new this year so lets take a Christmas home tour! Christmas in the kitchen Lets start in my favorite spot, the kitchen. I always love to do the garland above the window with some lights. This year I switched out to a new garland from the past couple years. You can see the other one in my Holiday Decor Tips and Ideas. I also added some whimsical elements like the Christmas Cookie book, gingerbread house and candy canes. The kids love having the candy canes around!   Dining Room Since finishing this accent wall in our dining room was still fairly recent I wasn’t prepared to hang anything directly on it yet haha. Adding a pencil tree was…
We recently added a little bar cart to our dining space to create some fun set ups while staying at home this season. Once it was put together the kids made me promise the first thing we would do is make a hot chocolate bar. Done! Hot Chocolate Bar Setup I tried to keep it fairly simple and whimsical when putting it together. First I filled in the space with some decor like mini trees, lights, and a cake stand to vary the height a little.  Next I added all the hot chocolate components including hot chocolate mix in a cute jar, candy canes and some toppings (mini marshmallows, crushed candy canes, and mini chocolate chips). I always just use what I have around the house as far as serving pieces. I usually just use mason jars or small bowls or ramekins like the ones here. Lastly you want…
DIY Wood Accent Wall We have been in our house for over 3 years now and this large wall in our dining room has been a spot I could never decide what to do with. Everything I came up with or was going to try just never seemed like the right fit. When we decided to overhaul our dining space and thought about doing  wood accent wall I knew it was finally going to be something we loved! The design Before we began we had to figure out what kind of design we wanted on the wall. Jesse wanted a very geometric pattern while I just wanted basic vertical pieces. We knew we had to figure out a comprise. We went about doing this by using painters tape and laying out a few different designs. It was about finding a design that fitted best in the space and…
