It has been many years since we first renovated this little powder room on our main floor. I loved how we added the shiplap to give it a little character and dimension. But this year I just felt like it was time for a little budget friendly powder room makeover. I didn’t want it to turn into a total project but I wanted a big impact. And make sure to check out the before picture at the end! The powder room details There were only 3 things I needed to do for this budget friendly powder room makeover! I’m sure you can guess what the main one being since I talk about it a lot – paint! I definitely wanted a paint color that would make a statement. I ended up choosing Debonair by Sherwin Williams. At the end of the post you will find some other colors I…
This bathroom may still be one of my favorite rooms in the house. We renovated it years ago and I still just love the feel of the space every time I come in here. I do love to change out the items on the vanity every so often to keep it fresh so I thought I’d share a few ways on how to accessorize a bathroom vanity my way. One important thing to try to consider when you want to accessorize a bathroom vanity is what is best for the size and needs in your space. For example our vanity has 2 sinks but they are not all that distant from one another. Having a tray in between the two sinks makes it so we can easily share one hand soap and other items and don’t need two of anything and it cuts down on how much we need…

It has already been 9 months since we got our Lake house in northern Michigan so I figured it was time for a renovation update. It has been such a whirl wind and so much fun seeing our visions take shape in this magical spot for our family. Here are some of the things we’ve been working on. There are two main areas we’ve been spending a lot of time working on. The first one being the yard and the exterior. A fun fact we learned is that no one has really done any maintenance on the yard for YEARS! Close to 10 years that is. Our main goal has been getting it cleaned up and cut back. Then next year we can focus on growing some new grass and creating some more defined spaces in the yard. Renovation update The bigger project we took on was renovating the…
One of my favorite parts when we are renovating is coming up with a vision and creating design boards for a space. And it quickly became a favorite thing to share here and on my social media. Over time I would just create them for different types of spaces to share inspiration. There are so many ways having a design board is helpful when working to create a room. From details such as seeing the color scheme come together or making sure a piece of furniture works with the other items in the space. Another important part I like to add are the finishing details like paint color, wall paper, flooring, hardware etc. These pieces are an important part of the overall look in addition to the furniture and decor. This way you can really see the space take shape. Here are a couple of my past favorite boards…
Have you ever wanted your own enclosed garden bed?! Over time my interest in gardening has been growing year after year. Then last year I really wanted to step it up a bit. I knew if I was going to expand the amount I could plant then I would definitely need an enclosed garden bed. Our backyard is one of my favorite parts about our home, its one of the big reasons we chose it. I remember so clearly the day we looked at this house and when we walked into the yard an entire family of dear were strolling through the back. We were sold! Now fast forward 5 years and we still love all the animal visitors we have but we knew if we were going to have a bigger garden it would have to be an enclosed bed so all our furry friends wouldn’t eat it…
Using faux florals and stems around your home is a great way to add to your decor. They can add height and texture to a space and are a nice break from taking care of a real plant. But a big component in that is knowing how to make faux florals look real when you style them in your home. If you buy more expensive ones they will usually look pretty good but they can really add up. There are a lot of budget faux florals that can really rival the designer versions – you just have to know what to look for and how to work with them. Here are my tips and tricks! Look at the branch color It may seem obvious but look for ones that have a realistic branch color. There are many that have all sorts of others colors that do not look natural….

It’s that time of year where I start gathering some new containers to get a little more organized throughout the house. I’m working on many different spaces so here’s some of my favorite home organization finds. When using containers inside a cabinet or pantry I like to use this bluetooth label maker. It also works great for other items throughout the house like kids school supplies or toy organization. I love that I can print them right from my phone and they are super fast and easy to make.   I recently started using this makeup organizer and it has been a game changer! It’s a small lazy susan style and is perfect for your everyday makeup. I still have another spot for my extra items that I don’t use daily. I also keep my brushes in a pouch and bring them out when needed. The center part in…
I’m really looking forward to getting started on Christmas decor this year! I have started a little and have added a few things to my decor for this season. Since its not all up yet I thought I would share my inspiration for this year which is a Cozy Christmas Cabin. I wanted to really focus on enjoying being snuggled up at home. And on items that would work great for Christmas but also work into the winter after the holidays as well.     Greenery is definitely one of my favorite elements in any holiday decor. That plus the warm wood tones with lots of textures like knits and faux fur make it the perfect cozy cabin atmosphere! I wanted to keep it a more modern take on cabin decor by adding the black accents with clean lines. And lastly only adding in these couple pillows to the…
