This Poolside Paloma Recipe is the perfect cocktail for a super hot summer day! It’s the perfect balance between tart and sweet and very refreshing. I first started making this recipe last year on our first trip to Rosemary Beach. We had a great location in a beautiful house right off the community pool. We were looking for something fun to switch to from our usual Margarita Recipe. I started playing around with different concoctions and the Poolside Paloma was born.     Poolside Paloma Recipe 4-5 limes juiced (about 1/3 cup) Grapefruit juice – equal parts to lime juice (about 1/3 cup) 1TBSP Agave – more to taste 2 ounces silver tequila Sparkling water  – I prefer Topo Chico but you can use any you like Combine first 4 ingredients into a shaker and shake well. Pour into a glass filled with ice and fill about 3/4 up….
Pomegranate Margarita You may have noticed by now that Margaritas are one of my favorite drinks to make and serve. I love to put seasonal spins on it through the year so for the holidays I started making these Pomegranate Margaritas and they are delish! They will be great for the holidays, New Years or anytime throughout the winter. The base is similar to my Fresh Lime Margarita with a couple changes. The addition of a cinnamon stick is a good balance of warmth with the sweetness of the pomegranate. It’s super easy and fun!  Pomegranate Margarita Recipe 3/4 cup Pomegranate Juice Juice of 1 lime 1 TBSP honey 1-2 ounces tequila 1 cinnamon stick  Sugar Start by running half of the lime around the rim of the glass. Put a thin layer of sugar on a small plate and dip the rim of the glass in the sugar…
Cranberry sauce was never a main staple for a holiday meal to me. But a few years ago my husband asked about having it so of course I was then on a mission. For several years in a row I would make a few different versions of it and slowly tweaking the flavors. The best part about homemade cranberry sauce is that it is very easy to make and so tasty. Another great part is that you can make it the day before so one less thing to do the day of entertaining. There really is not too much to do with this super easy recipe. The main advice I will give you is to keep an eye on it and stir often. The stirring will help breakdown the cranberries as they cook. You want to remove it from the heat once the cranberries burst because if you…
One of our favorite things to do in the fall is visit this apple orchard – many times! This year it is even more exciting because Jesse’s parents have a orchard at their house!! So we have been very lucky to have lots of apples at our disposal this year. My favorite thing to make when we have lots of extra apples is this simple slow cooker applesauce. For one it is just so easy to do and everyone loves it. It’s also a great way to use up those not so perfect apples because it all cooks down anyway. Another great apple recipe to try in my Healthy(ish) Apple Crumble Recipe if you are looking for a sweet treat. Prep First thing to do is of course wash and prep the apples. You want to peel and cut the apples into slices. I will link my favorite tools to make…
Nothing says summertime like lemonade! Several years ago we decided to make use of our herb garden and put a fun twist on it. With just a few new ingredients this Strawberry Herb Lemonade is packed with bright and refreshing flavor for a hot day. The best part about this is it is great for everyone! Kids and adults all love it just the same. When I make it for the kids I usually use a shaker and strain out the large chunks so theres no clogging their straws. For adults I mix in all the pieces to pack it with flavor and if you want to make it an “adult” beverage I had in vodka for the grown ups. Recipe below! This recipe is super easy to make. Gather up your strawberries, fresh mint and basil and make sure everything is washed and clean. Tear your herbs 2-3…
Now that Super Bowl is getting close I thought it was time to share one of my favorite football recipes, my 7 layer dip! This is great for a crowd because everyone loves it and it will serve a good amount of people. Plus you can make it earlier in the day and just put it out come game time! The Details I’ve made a few swaps with this one from a standard recipe to make it slightly healthier without losing any flavor. First I use vegetarian refried beans or even refried black beans. This cuts down on any extra unnecessary fat and you don’t even know. I also use non fat greek yogurt instead of sour cream which is another swap you won’t even notice. Also we always use tostitos scoops because they can hold the weight of the dip without breaking! They even come in baked as…
Well with the new year and us all trying to get back on track I’ve decided to share my favorite green refresh smoothie that I make all the time. Its a good way to sneak in some greens but still tastes good. I know it works because my kids love it! They start cheering every time I make smoothies. Which makes me feel like I secretly won a prize because they are excited about eating something healthy haha! If you need any other recipe ideas check out Healthy(ish) Apple Crumble – my kids love this one too!   The secret to balancing out the kale is to use other bright and fresh ingredients. The combination of the pineapple, mint and lime still keep it a refreshing flavor. Check out my Must Have Kitchen Tools for the best citrus press for limes and lemons. Now making a green refresh smoothie has always been…
With New Years Eve right around the corner, entertaining at home is a big part of all the celebrations. Hosting at home has become increasingly more popular lately and for good reason. I love to have parties because there is just something so special about having people over and putting your own special touch on things. When we built our small bar I started with a simple home bar setup to begin with and it is really all you need to have a great party. This post contains affiliate links. See my full disclosure about affiliate links here.  The ground work We had a small amount of extra wall space where we added extra cabinets and created a small flex space that we use as our home bar. If you don’t have this option a bar cart is another great option because you can literally set it up anywhere….
There is just something so appealing about a festive drink! Wouldn’t you agree? Especially around the holidays, at a party or a celebration. So when my friend Lynne and I got together we thought it would be fun to come up with a festive prosecco cocktail! I am a huge fan of prosecco! I mean, who isn’t? Anything bubbly is always a hit. So when putting it together we wanted something fun but simple. We wanted to save the extra time for spending time with guests and not having to craft too many things for this prosecco cocktail recipe. Because enjoying the company you are with is really what its all about in the first place! Two very important details to remember! You need accessories 😉 adding a little straw will make it so cute and also save some lipstick. The second detail is to have a friend to…
We love to cook in our household. I am not a professional by any means but we have done enough of it to know what works best for us. Must have kitchen tools Microplane zester I received this as a gift years back and it is still in perfect shape. I use this for just about anything I’m making. Its mainly for zesting citrus fruit for cooking, baking, marinades… you name it. But it also works great for ginger, cheese, veggies and garlic. Anything…
Having lots of apples to work with in the fall is one of the perks of living in Michigan. I love making pies and applesauce but sometimes just throwing together a quick apple crumble helps satisfy that little weeknight fix for something sweet. I usually have all the ingredients on hand which is how I developed this recipe – out of convenience! But it works and its delicious. You may have noticed the healthy(ish) part of the recipe hehe! That is such a great way to describe our recipes and eating habits in our household. I am a firm believer in healthy and balanced eating however I also know that we have to live a little and give my kids some fun treats too. This recipe has less sugar than normal and uses a small amount of maple syrup instead and uses oats as the base for the topping…

But what I love more is being able to just make one at home. I’ve never been overly fond of sweet and sour mix. It’s very sweet and just too pungent for me. So I made a recipe without a mix and created this fresh lime margarita recipe. Because I use fresh lime juice one of my favorite tools for my kitchen I have it this citrus press. You get so much more out of each lime, it’s a lot easier and no seeds get in. I suggest you get one because I use mine so much! Here is where you can find a citrus press similar to mine! https://amzn.to/2tNokuN  and if you need a cocktail shaker this one is great and a really…
