At the beginning of the fall we had a several week spell where everyone was sick in our house. I think it just comes with the territory when you have kids that you will eventually just get sick too. After having two different colds back to back left me in need of some serious lip repair. As I was going to bed I went to pile on some lip balm and realized that I had a ton of dry and dead skin on my lips – I know, gross! I knew it wasn’t going to work with all the build up I had. Being stuck at home I got into my pantry and got creative and made this DIY coffee lip scrub.
With only 4 ingredients it should be easy to whip up at home in no time. Adding in sugar and coffee grounds give 2 different textures to really exfoliate finely with the sugar and more coarse with the coffee.
You start with mixing the honey, sugar and coffee grounds together first. It will create almost like a paste and make it easier to incorporate it into the coconut oil.
Once the first 3 ingredients are mixed you add in the coconut oil. I would stir the coconut oil a little bit first separately to make it a little softer so it will mix in with more ease.
If you want a fun way to store it try these mini plastic jars and they would make a really cute gift!
DIY Coffee Lip Scrub
1 Tbsp Coconut Oil
2 tsp Honey
2 tsp Sugar
1 tsp Ground Coffee
Combine honey, sugar and coffee and mix well. Then add in the coconut oil (you may want to mix it a little on its own to soften it first) and combine to well incorporated. Adjust amounts as needed for preferred consistency. Scrub lips as needed and wipe off. I also use some excess to scrub my hands as well.
I love to alternate the Laneige Lip Mask on the other nights that I don’t scrub.
Enjoy!
