Holiday Decor Tips and Ideas

Now that the holidays are here and its time to decorate around the house I wanted to share some of my holiday decor tips and ideas for quick and easy decor that will make things feel cozy this season. One of the easiest and best ways to do it is to add some greenery. Here I added some garland around my window with some twinkle lights and a wreath over my hood.

One great way to put up decor is by using command hooks. I just added a medium sized command hook to the shiplap and now I can either take it down when I’m done or swap out to a different piece when the holidays are over. These small hooks are also great for the littler items when decorating such as lights.

Adding in fresh greens also is a great way to make things festive. I picked up a fresh wreath, garland and accent pieces from Trader Joe’s for a great price. Having a few of these are great for someone with little space to store holiday decor and they also add a nice smell to the house. We once tried one of the scented sticks to smell like a fresh tree and it was not good haha. The real deal is so much better! I just bought this Wilt Pruf to preserve the fresh greens.

I also love just grabbing little pieces for making wreaths and center pieces to add around the house. They are so inexpensive and you can add them to almost anything. I picked mine up from JoAnn Fabrics and added them to my mantel.

Twinkle lights go a long way! I added some small ones around the house and to my mantel. And I mixed in a little bigger ones into my garland.

My most practical advice is to work with what you already have and to buy things that can be reused or repurposed. I chose throw pillows that matched my existing throw pillows and were not holiday specific and more winter style so I can use them longer. I also got this basket for all the throw blankets that can be repurposed for other things in the house once its not cold out and we don’t need so many blankets out.
