It has already been 9 months since we got our Lake house in northern Michigan so I figured it was time for a renovation update. It has been such a whirl wind and so much fun seeing our visions take shape in this magical spot for our family. Here are some of the things we’ve been working on.
There are two main areas we’ve been spending a lot of time working on. The first one being the yard and the exterior. A fun fact we learned is that no one has really done any maintenance on the yard for YEARS! Close to 10 years that is. Our main goal has been getting it cleaned up and cut back. Then next year we can focus on growing some new grass and creating some more defined spaces in the yard.

Renovation update
The bigger project we took on was renovating the lower level of the house. One of the main reasons we love this house is because the lower level is a walkout and goes right down to the water. However, it needed a lot of work. We took everything down to the studs and reframed in space that worked best for us. We created a living space, bedroom, bathroom, storage and laundry room. Currently the flooring is in and we have everything painted (which I’m in love with our paint colors!). We still have to finish up the bedroom, bathroom and the stairs which all will be coming soon.
One decor project we did are these decorative oars. We were so excited that these old wooden oars were left in the garage at the house and we just knew we had to do something fun with them! And they fit just perfectly on this wall! I’ll have a tutorial soon on how Jesse mounted these.

One thing we’ve really tried to keep in mind this summer is to take time and enjoy the home and summer season while its here. The kids have really enjoying swimming in the lake and using our new Bote swim platform and paddle boards. I still can’t believe that they are inflatable! I highly recommend them.
And the dogs love to explore around the yard, get out on the dock and even go for a boat ride. If you haven’t seen yet on my social media – this is Dash our new addition to the family! He’s a rescue pup we saw a video of and knew he needed to be a part of the family. We just love him so much!
So while we are still enjoying the last of summer we will also be wrapping up some projects and stay tuned because I’m sure new projects will be surfacing this fall.
