Our Manhattan Beach Getaway

Manhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach is the cutest little beach town. I’m a huge fan of going to the beach. But we have never been fans of the over crowded touristy beaches that are lined with hotels and souvenir shops. It’s never been our thing. Well if you want that beach feeling without the tourist twist you need to hit the west coast. Heres a recap of our Manhattan Beach Getaway.

Location is the best!

Its located only 15 min from LAX… enough said right there. Manhattan Beach is also within proximity of many other places including Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, LA, Santa Monica, Malibu and about an hour drive to Disneyland (here’s a post about our first trip to Disneyland). There was plenty to do just in Manhattan Beach alone though. Obviously go to the beach, lots of little shops, walk along the strand, aquariums, and more.

The beach itself

There were no hotels that were directly on the beach. This is a plus and minus I guess for most. But it was seriously the nicest beach, not overcrowded and super clean. I think the fact that it’s not very touristy was a huge part of that. And I loved all of it. The weather was a little chillier than normal while we were there (early May) – it was high 60’s most of time but still warm enough to enjoy everything. Of course it was warmer there before and after our trip 😉

Lodging

We stayed at the Sea View Inn at the Beach which is a cute beach hotel. It definitely is a simple place (just a heads up it is nothing fancy) but for us it had everything we needed. It was located about 2 blocks from the beach. We got a one bedroom with a kitchen. The hotel has all the items you need for the beach- chairs, towels, sand toys, umbrellas and even bikes to ride down the strand. I’m sure there are lots of other airbnb or homeaway options.

Stuff around where we stayed

There was plenty of things by our hotel – a couple breakfast spots, yoga studio, beach pizza, spa/nails, party store and more. Everything we needed was right out the door.

Downtown Manhattan beach

THE BEST.  There are lots of great shops and restaurants. All walkable within downtown. From our hotel downtown Manhattan Beach was about a 10-15 min walk away or a really fast drive. We even walked there with the kids a few times. Here are just some of the places we went to. Everywhere we went was great food and laid back and kid friendly.

Bottom line

I would go back in a heartbeat. We really enjoyed our Manhattan Beach getaway. Such a beautiful town and beach that wasn’t overcrowded.

Until next time Manhattan Beach <3
