Nothing says summertime like lemonade! Several years ago we decided to make use of our herb garden and put a fun twist on it. With just a few new ingredients this Strawberry Herb Lemonade is packed with bright and refreshing flavor for a hot day.
The best part about this is it is great for everyone! Kids and adults all love it just the same. When I make it for the kids I usually use a shaker and strain out the large chunks so theres no clogging their straws. For adults I mix in all the pieces to pack it with flavor and if you want to make it an “adult” beverage I had in vodka for the grown ups.
Recipe below!
This recipe is super easy to make. Gather up your strawberries, fresh mint and basil and make sure everything is washed and clean. Tear your herbs 2-3 times and rough chop your strawberries (or you can remove the stem, leave them whole and just mash them really well). Toss everything into either a shaker, mason jar or pitcher. Take a muddler or a large spoon and mash everything really well. You will have some large and some small chunks which is fine. I like to use a shaker so I can strain the large pieces out for the kids so they don’t clog their straws. But it would be easy to make it in one big pitcher.
If you want to take it up one notch for the adults add in vodka at the end and give it a good stir. You may also want to check out my Fresh Lime Margarita Recipe! It is my most requested drink to make and it is always a crowd pleaser.
Strawberry Herb Lemonade Recipe
- 3 cups lemonade (I just get the large ones from Costco)
- 1 cup strawberries – hulled
- 6 fresh mint leaves
- 6 fresh basil leaves
- optional – Vodka if desired (I use Titos)
- Ice and water to taste
Tear your herbs 2-3 times and rough chop your strawberries (or you can remove the stem, leave them whole and just mash them really well). Toss everything into either a shaker, mason jar or pitcher. Mash everything together with muddler or large spoon. Add in lemonade and stir really well. Let it sit for a few minutes to let the flavors combine. Add in a small about of water as needed to balance out the sweetness. Fill 4 mason jars or glasses halfway with ice, fill up and enjoy!
Makes 4 servings
If you want to make it an alcoholic drink add in 1/2 -1 ounce of vodka per serving to taste.
Now take your refreshing drink and get outside and enjoy your summer. Having a hanging chair always makes relaxing outside even better 😉 All product details below.
